Hyld Studio hosted an alley cat street race / urban orienteering event in Copenhagen to celebrate the premiere of the new movie “Forbidden Fruit Is Best Picked Ripe” about the marathon. The day started with an alleycat run that had participants racing through the city to collect stamps from six different locations. After the race attendees the film premiered and as a part of the launch, we did merch tee’s for attendees to wear.

"Forbidden Fruit Is Best Picked Ripe" is a film on marathon training commissioned by Hyld Studio for Adidas Running by Jon Hjelholt

Eating forbidden fruits changes the way you relate to yourself. It's a way to transgress, what you were before. Reaching for an almost impossible personal best on the marathon is similar. You need a clear vision of what you are, and what you want to become. You're training, reaching for something higher than your current self. To ripen the forbidden fruit, you need to fertilize the soil, trim the flowers, fight off pests. But you also need to be wary of external factors; wind, frost, dryness, disease, and so on. You can do a lot, but also have to accept the things outside your control.

In this documentary, Jon got to follow Chris (Christopher Strandberg Meulengracht) during the last critical weeks of preparation before his attempt at a 2h:22m marathon in Seville (February 18th. 2024).

We're joining him on some ridiculously hard training sessions, sudden sickness, esoteric marathon rituals, intimate moments with those, that give meaning to it all, the deceiving nature of long-distance racing, and running still. Running doesn't begin with racing, nor does it end with racing. Running is other and more.
